ISM: Level 3 Introduction to Supervisory Management
Overview:
 
A participatory programme for all supervisors and those identified as future managers, which is a mixture of flexible and distance learning supported by tutor guided workshops.  The programme is practical, relevant and developmental in its approach. 
 
The programme begins with a two-day induction where each candidate will receive a comprehensive learning package of Management Literature and two Flexible Learning books.  The materials enable the participants to explore their role through case studies, organisational examples, management theories and practices and personal development plans taking into account the manager's level of experience. 
 
During the programme, which is further supported by an additional 3 one-day tutor-guided workshops, a wide range of practical Management will be covered. 
 
Aims:
  • To enable first line supervisors to develop their management skills and abilities
  • To provide an introduction to a wide range of practical management theories and concepts
 
Outcomes:
  • Understand the key principles of effective management
  • Manage staff and themselves to achieve organisational, team and individual goals
  • Improve personal and team communication
  • Understand their role as a supervisor and the impact their actions might have on their staff and colleagues
  • Employ the most effective ways to reach a productive resolution of conflict
  • Provide developmental feedback to staff in a professional manner
  • Recognise the importance of improved service delivery
Programme Duration:

The programme is flexible in its timescales from 16 weeks to 6 months.
