Improving the Workplace Environment
Background:
Within any workplace environment, the pressure placed on staff to produce increased outcomes with few resources can cause stress and often resentment with colleagues.  In the pursuit of necessary cost cutting and the need to demonstrate more for less, managers and their teams have never been under greater pressure.

One of the factors behind the increase levels of sickness throughout the UK can be correlated to the stressful environment staff are exposed to by the organisations albeit unwittingly.  Research demonstrates that effective management of a healthy workplace environment leads to improved motivation and higher levels of achievement.

The importance of the workplace environment has now been recognised within employment law with the definition of harassment now being extended to cover the environment the individual(s) are exposed to.  The importance of creating a healthy environment has now taken centre stage in equality legislation.

Overview:

This course is designed to enable delegates to firstly identify the signs, symbols and cultural norms of their own workplace environment.  Using problem-centred activities and case studies, these key indicators are used as a vehicle to identify and name their own individual working environment.  Having established a 'flag in the ground assessment', they use a framework of best practice to benchmark their current environment and establish what success should look like.

The participants explore a range of cultural norms and inter-personal behaviours to establish appropriate action plans to take the first steps in creating a healthy and appropriate environment.  This course is suitable for managers and their teams or groups of managers seeking to achieve similar outcomes.

  • To enable delegates to establish an accurate picture of a healthy work place and implement practical solutions to develop an appropriate working environment
