Aim:
There exists a range of sexual orientations amongst the human community. Studies suggest that between 5% to 10% of the population are almost exclusively homosexual and that a larger proportion of people experiment with bisexuality at various times in their lives.
Thus a significant proportion of any workforce is not exclusively heterosexual. Yet on a daily basis individuals who identify as gay-lesbian or bisexual are subjected to the negative affects of homophobia from a societal – individual - cultural and most often an organisational prospective. Sometimes intentional, but often unwittingly.
The Gay Affirmative Practice development process (GAP) gives organisations the opportunity to develop “BEST PRACTICE” in line with the new legislation aimed at preventing discrimination in the workplace on grounds of sexual orientation making it a more inclusive environment for all.
