Mediator & Advisor
Background

The purpose of mediation is to bring people together who have experienced conflict or a breakdown in the working relationship. Introducing the mediation process has to be thought through appropriately, is it the right time with the right people and more importantly what are the desired outcomes?

Often when dealing with people in challenging circumstances, they may be emotional and lack objectivity.  It is important that we do not ignore the emotional perspective for as human beings, this is something that is intrinsic to our make-up.
Basic analysis suggests workplace behaviour is assumed to be fully rational.  This can create highly unrealistic and inaccurate assessments of the working environment.
Whenever conflicts arise it is often a sign that emotions are also surfacing. Ignoring the emotional elements in conflicts and focusing only on rational and task concerns is highly unlikely to be effective in resolving conflict.

Effective mediation will help identify issues, resolve conflicts, reinstate relationships and develop a healthy working environment.
